We Are Starfleet: 2018 Commendations List

To all hands, all stations:

I hope that today has brought you joy, peace and – let’s face it, it’s what we’re all hoping for – merry bushels of loot.

This year has been a busy one for the Admiralty and not without it’s challenges: with Discovery on our screens, interest in organised fandom has grown once again and we have welcomed a great many of those fans into the home fleet but we have also seen our fandom shaken by those who don’t share our views or perhaps even our core beliefs. Fortunately, Discovery gave us a new rallying cry: We are Starfleet – we are one. From the most driven fan to the casual viewer, we are here for you, we accept you, understand you and welcome you – you have a home here. Our members have always been Starfleet Command’s greatest asset – your skills, your likes, your needs are what shapes the Home Fleet…
So with that in mind, I’d like to take a few moments to recognise some of our more prominent members, who have come to my attention this year:

Not everyone in Starfleet gets to be the Captain – but every commanding officer needs at least one officer whose assistance they can rely on. And this year, nobody has better exemplified that role than these officers:

  • Jenn Archibald – Deputy to the Commandant of Starfleet Academy
  • Justine Penny Torrance – CMO, U.S.S. Sovereign
  • Tamsin Mary Fuller – CEO, U.S.S. Churchill
  • All three will be receiving Starfleet Commendations in recognition of their efforts.

Some officers distinguish themselves through the exemplary commission of their duties and it is my duty and my pleasure to recognise their dedication:

  • Kev Hooper – CRO, U.S.S. Churchill: promoted to Lieutenant Commander
  • Stephen Lester – FO, U.S.S. Churchill: promoted to Commander
  • Douglas Langstaff – CO, U.S.S. Sovereign: promoted to Captain
with all the duties and responsibilities thereby associated
  • Congratulations to you all, you worked hard this year to earn this.

Beyond the activities of individual crew members, out Units have been active this year and choosing an exemplar between them would have been a nearly impossible task, however in the last month, one vessel has stepped up to my attention, so it is my pleasure to announce…

U.S.S. Sovereign, NCC-71717 receives a Meritorious Unit Commendation for actions above and beyond the call of duty.

On behalf of the Admiralty Board and HQ, our congratulations to those named above and thank you for your dedication.

And to all, I hope your Christmas has brought you all you could possibly want! Enjoy the holiday and we’ll see you back here in the New Year.
