“We’ve Only Just Begun…” First Trailer Released for Star Trek Prodigy!
One of the more curious projects in the current wave of Star Trek, Prodigy has been one of the quietest in terms of news. Now however, we have our first peek at the all new animated series, getting a tease of the upcoming story and the new ship to lead the adventures.
Developed by Nickelodeon, Prodigy is one of the key parts of Alex Kurtzman’s own five year mission. Reaching into new corners of Star Trek lore, and expanding how stories are told, Prodigy breaks away from the dramatic styles of Picard and Discovery to focus on a younger market. Created by Trollhunters leads Dan and Kevin Hageman, we finally got our first peek at whats to come…
Prodigy will tell the story of a group of teenage outcasts who stumble upon a derelict Starfleet vessel. Guided by an on board training hologram modelled on Captain Janeway, the group will have to find a way to work together as a team as they figure out how to run the USS Protostar and find a new future together.
The series will see Kate Mulgrew return as the Janeway training hologram and will also star William O. Campbell as Thadiun Okona; Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk; Brett Gray as Dal; Angus Imrie as Zero; Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog; Ella Purnell as Gwyn; Dee Bradley Baker as Murf.
Prodigy will launch on PAramount Plus in the US before moving to Nickelodeon. UK broadcast information is unknown at this time.
UPDATE 11/08: Prodigy is expected to launch on Paramount Plus in the UK when the service expands to international markets.
