Phillipa Georgiou was one of Starfleets finest. Commanding an exploration mission on an aging vessel, she was a decorated and respected leader in the fleet that would inspire future generations and colleagues alike. And then she died, killed while boarding an ancient Klingon ship whose captain was determined to reignite a new war to bring the great houses together again. In comparison to the honourable captain who stood by the rules, the Georgiou that exists now is her opposite. In her world she wasn't a hero, but a savage ruler of the Terran Empire. Reigning with fear and terror, her empire was built on slavery, genocide and war. Eventually her dominance was challenged when Gabriel Lorca – himself a Terran hiding in the Prime Universe – would use Discovery's experimental spore drive technology to pull the ship back to his […]

As a new year begins we can't help but look back at whats been a strangely filled year for Star Trek. 2024 was a bittersweet year with a stunning amount of Star Trek on our screens, all of which was coming to an end in their final and news from behind the curtain about the next steps into the final frontier. Looking back at the highlights, even with saying goodbye to three separate shows in the wider universe, it's still been a tremendously good year in the final frontier! LONE GUARDIAN One of Star Trek's biggest surprises in recent years was the animated show built for a teenage audience as a gateway to the franchise and it's second season was a massive highlight for Star Trek in 2024. Now protege's of Admiral Janeway, the outlaw crew became entwined in the […]

In 1994 Captain Picard and his Next Generation crew said their final farewells to their Enterprise after one half of the ship exploded, and the other half smashed to the surface of Veridian III. Sadly for the Enterprise, it was the victim of not only Klingon meddling, but technical requirements; the Galaxy Class was a fine ship for their television adventures, but this was the movie world they'd beamed into so a new ship was needed to kick start this new high definition widescreen adventure. Enter the Sovereign Class; a massive departure from the creature comforts of it's predecessor. IT was leaner, meaner and built to impress from the moment we saw it on screen as the all-new Enterprise-E in 1996's First Contact.

Making her mark in the world of television, Taylor's pre-Trek career was a little more grounded. Through the 80's Taylor moved from writing to productio with classic drama's including Magnum PI, Blue Thunder and murder mystery series Quincy ME. Though she dabbled beyond the genre, including writing an episode of the Incredible Hulk, Taylor would move into the Star Trek universe on the recommendation of fellow Quincy writer, and Next Generation producer, Lee Sheldon, who had been tasked with expanding the themes of TNG and wanted to bring on board a versatile writer with experience beyond science fiction.

The Borg were on the attack, the Dominion were plotting to overthrow the Federation and the Klingons were on the offensive. Also there was a new feature film with all new design in the works, so it was time for a new change for Starfleet as the bright colours were thrown out and replaced with something more fitting for an era of doom and gloom. Introduced in Star Trek First Contact, the new uniform was an evolution of the previous design initially created for Deep Space Nine's more 'hands on' style. The 'First Contact' uniform was a bit of a departure from what we'd seen in the Next Generation era. The original Star Trek uniforms were designed in an era where colour television was brand spanking new and as such, they were bright, bold and matched the multicoloured mood lights […]

As Lower Decks returns for it's final season, it answered one of the unresolved questions from it promised recent history as Jennifer made a return after vanishing from the unresolved conflict with Mariner at the end of the third season. And it went exactly as we'd expect for a Lower Decks romance storyline.
