Before the age of CGI, Star Trek's art teams relied on models to bring Starfleet to life with the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine keeping the budgets down by re-using movie era designs as the backbone of the fleet. Even during the Dominion War arc where CGI was utilised at times, the fleet was filled with outdated Excelsior and Miranda class starships with the occasional Galazy, Nebula or First contact fleet thrown in thanks to archived digital assets.
Since it's inception, Lower Decks has had multiple cameo's and revivals over the years with Season Four showcasing some impressive returns from Chaotica himself causing chaos for the Lower Decks crew to Grand Nagus Rom and Lita boarding the Cerrtitos for trade negotiations. But with decades of canon to lift from, who else should take their retro guest spotliight?
Ahead of the series officially moving to Netflix this month, Star Trek Prodigy producers Dan and Kevin Hageman have announced that the highly anticipated second season has finally been completed and ready for launch in the near future.
Despite having already showcased the trailer for Season 2, back in June Paramount announced that they were cancelling the popular young adult animation, Star Trek Prodigy, and soon enough it vanished from the srtreaming service. Since then fgans have rallied hard to save the popular show, while the producers have shoppped around to find a new home for the series. And now it looks like it's heading to Netflix for the long anticipated Season 2!
With close to 900 episodes – and a sure thing we'll hit 1,000 in the current era – we all have our favourite episodes of Star Trek across all the Generations. Whether thats seeing Sisko wrestle with morality in DS9's In The Pale Moonlight; watching the tense drama or Kirk versus the Romulans in Balance of Terror or TNG's turning point in Best of Both Worlds, the debates raged on for decades.
In a diplomatic mission gone wrong, Captain Picard is beamed back home to the Enterprise after being shot in the chest and dies. The shot blew out his mechanical heart and as he crosses the celestial border from life to death, he's met with his creator. Or at least someone claiming to be God, his old pal Q. Q explains the situation. The heart, or lack of, killed him. Then he plays back the fight that made him lose hos actual heart; a bar room brawl with a Nausican when the Captain was a newly minted Ensign. As Picard watches his young self being stabbed through the chest, leading to an artificial heart being implanted leading to it being shorted out decades later, Q gives his old pal a choice. Stay dead, or go back and fix the mistake.
