Attention all hands! Some changes are coming to SFCQ2.com and we’re giving a bit of an early warning that the site will be done for a short time in the coming weeks as we undergo a bit of an overhaul for the site – and one that ended up being a much larger endeavour than we’d initially anticipated!
In a previous Fleet-Only update, we’d highlighted some changes coming to the site as we revised the members section for ease of use and usefulness to all members. Through the process of identifying several improvements, we’ve taken a little step further to conduct a major overhaul of the site and how it operates with a new template, streamlined content and loads more.
Primary changes include:
- Better mobile compatibility: As more and more users of the online world operate with mobile devices over traditional desktop solutions, we’d finally taken steps to help improve the mobile experience. While the current method is passable, we wanted a little bit more than that and have opted to make things a lot clearer for usage beyond a PC.
- Streamlined Layout: More than five years ago we launched the Q2 site as a mix of old and new information while adding a few extra bits and pieces such as the Discovery section. With a focus on Comms over all else, as well as a change of pace at Paramount, we’re bringing it all back to more manageable and easier to navigate sections while we move into the 2025 schedule.
- Membership Features: A large chunk of the 2019 version of the site was built around membership features that ended up not being utilised fully. Partly due to a behavioural shift in how people would access information across multiple platforms in more ways than one which in turn has a spiralling effect on how the members sections became more limited. The new site will be focusing more on members only accessible content and give a stronger base to evolve further as the trial year progresses.
- New Look: The shallowest reason to update anything – we want to look a little nicer! The driving force behind this was to offer unit pages more of a ‘home page’ feel in line the the primary Q2 landing page and advanced from there to just give everything a bit of an overall face lift just so it’s a little more pleasant to look at!
In line with this there will be a few other updates, both visual and in terms of regular content, to help us heading into 2025. The plan is to review the new structure every quarter with revisions, changes and regular feedback engagement to make sure we’re fully serving the fleet and its needs.
We’ll have a further breakdown when the new site goes live. We’ll try and give ample warning when the switch happens however any non-fleet relate posts for the month of December will be put on hold while we focus efforts on the new styles.
For any member who wants to be involved in the new look Q2 site, whether it be to help test the site ahead of launch or in joining the Comms Relay team for 2025, please reach out to the DoFA. All contact information, including Whatsapp and Messenger details, can be found in the Membership Hub.
