Age of Discovery: A New Era of Content Delivery from Star Trek Online (Comms Highlights)

Ever since the introduction of Star Trek Discovery, players of Star Trek Online were eager to see the show's content drop into the game so they could immerse themselves in the new vision of the 23rd century. Despite the general thought that such updates would be a while away, the STO team surprised their user base with an announcement that, despite a pretty hefty recent release of DS9 anniversary content, they were ready to take us to the Age of Discovery. Whenever you ask a DS9 fan where to start, the answer is rarely from the beginning. The first seasons of the show were good, sometimes great. The foundations were laid for a darker show than the flagship adventures of the Enterprise We had Federation turncoats in the Maquis; an uneasy peace between Bajor and their former oppressors in Cardassia; there was politics and religion crossing over on all fronts and from the end of season two we had the Dominion lurking on the far side of the wormhole teasing their incoming takeover of Federation Space. After a dramatic debut season, Star Trek Discovery returned to Netflix introducing us to a new captain, a new vibe and a whole new adventure for the redeemed Michael Burnham and her shipmates. At the end of season ones finale we were all surprised to see the USS Enterprise send out a distress call interrupting Discovery's trip to Vulcan.
