For anyone who doesn’t have Netflix (which you should, theres a lot of good stuff there!), Channel 4 has announced they’ve gained the rights for Discovery on regular TV.
Just announced, the deal will see Channel 4 secure two of CBS’ properties as they secure the regular television rights for Matt LeBlanc’s new show ‘Man With a Plan’ and All Access show Star Trek Discovery. Both will air on their E4 Channel from next year. You can read the full announcement at Channel 4.
The news may seem a little ‘secondary’ in the announcement to Man With a Plan, it’s somewhat understandable; despite some early speculation, it does seem clear that Discovery won’t be moving away from Netflix, who has the ‘first run’ rights. The deal simply means that the show will have a home outwith streaming and will launch on a two-year delay on E4.
Season 3 of Discovery is still set to air in 2020 on Netflix, while E4 will start from the beginning with Season 1 for non-streaming subscribers.

Last week Starfleet Academy debuted and something odd happened. If you're a regular to any Trek news or discussion site, you noticed a spike. Even our usually sleepy Facebook profile went from a handful of likes to over 2,000, am good chunk of which got deleted. It wasn't a normal spike, certainly not normal for a debut show, not normal to be everywhere and – to be frank – not normal in terms of comments. It was a mix of disturbing and sad. Looking ahead to the next generation of Star Trek shows, Paramount and Secret Hideout have already began announcing new cast members to lead the Starfleet Academy series coming to the streaming platform in the near future.
