There's drama and mystery ahead in the live action Star Trek world with scary space phenomenon and alternate reality skipping to take us through an adventure and keep us on the edge of our seats. Before then, however, our next dose of the Star Trek world has kicked off with something a little lighter as we rejoin the Lower Decks of the Cerritos!
One of the more curious projects in the current wave of Star Trek, Prodigy has been one of the quietest in terms of news. Now however, we have our first peek at the all new animated series, getting a tease of the upcoming story and the new ship to lead the adventures.
Celebrating Captain Picard Day, a tradition inspired by Next Generation episode The Pegasus, CBS launched a new trailer for the upcoming Season of Star Trek Picard and out first peek at John De Lancie's return as Q... There's a lot of interesting hints involved. Patrick Stewart has previously commented that Q would arrive at a devastating moment for Picard. There are enough hints to assume the crew will find themselves in an alternate timeline where Picard's home is empty, Rios and the crew have rather intriguing Starfleet pins and Seven perhaps never was assimilated. Both the original and Next Generation crew had said their last farewells on the big screen, while on TV Star Trek's eighteen year run had suffered franchise fatigue and low ratings, leading to the cancellation of prequel series Enterprise. Akiva Goldsman has a long history with Star Trek. First as a young kid growing up in the 70's watching original series re-runs, to asking friend JJ Abrahms for cameo's in the two Trek movies he directed, to now being a creative force within the franchise itself. Now merging his fandom with his work, he's taking Star Trek back to it's past as Strange New Worlds revisits his childhood on board the original USS Enterprise.
