STLV Highlights: Wilson Cruz Speaks on the Importance of his Role in Discovery

As San Diego Comic Con Anthony Rapp announced another cast member for Star Trek Discovery during the cast panel as he told fans at SDCC that Wilson Cruz was filming alongside them as Discovery medical officer Dr Hugh Culber. At Star Trek Las Vegas Cruz - Known for shows including My So Called Life, Party of Five, Red Band Society and more including recently appearing in 13 Reasons Why - made his first public appearance as a member of the Discovery cast, taking part in panels and press interviews during his stay. Cruz's addition to the announced cast line up was a surprise one, but Rapp explained that within the show he and Cruz would portray Star Trek's first openly gay couple in television. Discovery at SDCC Highlights! (New Trailer Included!)

Today the cast and crew of Discovery took the stage of Ballroom 20 at San Diego Comic con bringing with them news of the next chapter of Star Trek and sneak peeks ahead of the shows September debut! Michael Burnham During the panel we learned more about Burnhams relationship with Sarek and their back story. They revealed that Burnham/s parents were killed and that Sarek became a surrogate father to her. But for those wondering why we'd never heard of Spock's human adopted sister, executive producer Alex Kurtzman took the issue head on, "we're aware Spock's stepsister isn't canon." He said, adding, "Be patient with us." Discovery heads to San Diego Comic Con!

Starfleet's new officers are ready to make their first public appearance together in just a matter of days as Star Trek Discovery heads to the infamous media event, Dan Diego COmic Con! The event hinted at by Discovery's Chris Obi several montha back will take place this Saturday, July 22nd in Ballroom 20 at Comic-Con International in San Diego. On hand for the event is series lead Sonequa Martin Green, who will play the conflicted Michael Burnham, plus series cast Doug Jones (Lt Saru), Shazad Latif (Lt Tyler), Jascon Isaacs (Captain Lorca), Anthony Rapp (Lt Stamets) and James Frain (Sarek) among more.
