Star Trek: Lower Decks – CBS Announces First All Access Animated Series.

With Discovery Season 2 set to launch January 17th being supplemented with Short Treks and the untitled Picard Project, CBS has announced another extension to the Star Trek universe with the first CBS All Access adult animated series, Lower Decks. Focusing on the lowest ranking members of one of Starfleet's least important ships, Lower Decks is a new half hour adult comedy series being penned by Rock & Morty's head writer Mike McMahon. "Mike won our hearts with his first sentence: ‘I want to do a show about the people who put the yellow cartridge in the food replicator so a banana can come out the other end.’" Star Trek overlord Alex Kurtzman told Deadline, "As we broaden the world of ‘Trek’ to fans of all ages, we’re so excited to include Mike’s extraordinary voice." The Search for Spock is Over!

When the teaser trailer for Discovery Season two was released back in July, we knew that at some stage we'd see Michael Burnham's famed foster brother as she stood in his quarters, pondering where the half Vulcan she grew up with has gone. Since then we've waited to see who Discovery would cast in the role originated by Leonard Nimoy and now we have our answer! Broken by Variety this evening, Discovery's producers have welcomes Ethan Peck to appear in the iconic role for Season 2. https://twitter.com/ethangpeck/status/1029416376736215040 Soon after the news broke, Peck confirmed the announcement, thanking the Nimoy family who he had apparently met with before the announcement. As we'd all hoped and expected, last nights SDCC panel closed with a fresh look at Discovery season 2, giving us the first peek at how the show is shaping up after the behind the scenes teaser released earlier this year.
