Best remembered for her turn as Voyagers volatile half Klingon Engineer B'Ellanna Torres, Roxann Dawson seven years on Voyager was a breakout moment for her on screen acting career as well as a transition to a new aspect of her career. Drawn to acting from an early age, Dawson began her career on stage in regional productions following her studied at the University of California earned her a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Moving into television in 1985, Dawson racked up dozens of credits ranging from Matlock to Baywatch in guest roles before being cast for Voyager in 1994, a role that quickly saw her become a fan favourite in the complex role of an engineer with a temper, lending her talents to Starfleet as an outsider. Armed to the teeth with the ability to replenish ships, troops and supplies at rapid speed, the Dominion were a force to be reckoned with who were systematically crushing their opposition. The Jem'Hadar were taking their fair share of losses, but any soldier lost could be replaced by another batch of clones and with a huge amount of planets in servitude to the Dominion combined with a sharp focus of genetically engineered talents, there were always spare resources to replenish and push back. A stepping stone between two pivotal design era's, the Ambassador Class was introduced by the 2320's as a replacement for the Excelsior and Constellation lines before being itself replaced with the larger and more adaptable Galaxy Class. Constructed during a time of cautious optimism in the decades following the original Khitomer conference and relative silence from the Romulan Empire. Strong and sturdy in it's nature, the Ambassador line were installed as a key front line heavy cruiser as a deterrent against enemies of the Federation to take advantage of the relative peace of the early 24th century. Now, nearly sixty years later, Leonard Nimoy's portrayal set the tone for decades of evolution. [For The Uniform] The Strange New Uniforms of the Mid 23rd Century

In the 1960's Star Trek introduced a bold and simple look for the officers of the USS Enterprise with a style that became iconic in science fiction. For a modern return to the era, a new series needed a new look that stayed true to the original. Being a prequel series, Strange New Worlds era of Starfleet's style was largely pre-determined. The classic colours of the original series were the template for the era's visual upgrade and much like the Kelvin Timeline films, the style's upgrade came with it's own twist on the iconic look. On Discovery, Gersha Phillips re-coloured the base template of her utilitarian uniform design to match the bright shades of the original series.
