Inside Trek/Outside Trek: Isa Briones

When Star Trek Picard premiered in 2020, one of its brightest revelations was Isa Briones. New to the franchise, Briones was a core part of the story who's first season came in two parts; Dahj, who was swiftly killed off in the first episode revealing her synthetic origins as one half of a pair, giving us her second and most vital character, Soji. Having been in the spotlight since she was three years old, Isa Briones is one part of a family of actors. Her parents - Megan Johnson and Jon Jon Briones – are both working actors, as is her brother Teo. Having been raised within the industry, Briones had a huge learning experience throughout her life and career before being cast in Picard. Coming fresh off a Broadway run of Hamilton, Briones was only twenty years old at […]

[Ships Of The Line] Sagan Class

Constructed and designed at the tail end of the 24th century alongside a near complete refresh of Starfleet's forces, the Sagan Class was the first in a n0ew initiative to incorporate technology both inspired and reverse engineered from Borg Technology. The first Sagan Class placed into service was the USS Stargazer, named in honour of Admiral Jean Luc Picard's first command. Much like the original Stargazer, the Sagan Class mirrored the old constitution class in being a quad-nacelles ship with similar design layout.

Since then several designers have been hired to bring new iconic ships to Star Trek, including Andrew Probert, Rick Sternbach and Kelvin Timeline designer Ryan Church. However, while most ships were built in house for their productions, not every ship we've seen on screen began it's life in a production office nor in any official capacity.

A Fistful Of Legacies

Star Trek Picard's final episode gave birth to a new generation of Starfleet. Despite being a final goodbye to the Next Generation Crew, season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas had also planned to tell the story of the birth of the Enterprise-G, it's captain and her crew. But in doing so the series explored some major moments and themes from the wider TNG era, both revisiting and expanding on Star Trek lore. Since the closing moments of the series, in particular the launch of the Enterprise G led by a pirate, a spy and a thief, the finale gave rise to a massive fan campaign to continue the story with Captain Seven of Nine heading up Matalas' Star Trek Legacy. Unfortunately due tot he writers strike, nothing can even be pitched regarding the show, but with such a title and already […]
