Time has certainly flown by as Strange New Worlds penultimate season is just days away. Things have been a little guarded since the show was announced to be ending with a shortened 5th season, but it gave the production plenty of warning to wrap things up and bring an end to the original Captain and his crew!

With some cast announcements for Season 5 seeing new additions including Thomas Jane as Leonard McCoy, as well as knowing it’ll a shorter season to bring the show to a close, the fourth instalment feels a little bittersweet. But from recent hype from Paramount, we might just be in for a fun time.

Season 4 Episode Titles

Ahead of the series launch, the Star Trek social media team have been hard at work with some teases including short clips of each of the crew which you can view on Instagram. And of course, a look at the seasons episode titles with each one linked to one of the cast members including some interesting name choices…

With what was seen in the trailer, some of the titles seem a touch obvious, such as The Griffin Incident and Level-Five Transporter Accident which is safe to guess as the Puppet Pike episode. Though some names are rather intriguing…

  1. Valles Marineris – July 23rd
  2. The Griffin Incident – July 30th
  3. Human Best Friend – August 6th
  4. A Case of Chiaroscuro – August 13th
  5. Level-Five Transporter Accident – August 20th
  6. Off-Hour – August 27th
  7. Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass – September 3rd
  8. Orders of Magnitude – September 10th
  9. Once La’an a Time – September 17th
  10. Tomorrows Enterprise – September 24th

Tomorrows Enterprise stands out as a mirror to Yesterdays Enterprise. With two Enterprise sets that might have just been able to be used – the Enterprise D reconstruction which was kept for prosperity and the Enterprise-G which may have still survived during Season 4 filming – it does make one wonder if we’ll have a physical crossover, or if the titles just a little more of a tease for ending the season with a new Captain in the chair….

Though with episode 8 also airing very close to the 60th anniversary date itself, Orders of Magnitude would be an excellent title to give for someone getting their Captains Stripes….

SFX August 2026

For those of us who still like to read actual physical pieces of paper, Strange New Worlds gets the cover story in the August edition of SFX. Featuring Anson Mount and Ethan Peck on the cover, inside producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers talk about the upcoming season and their approach to wrapping up the series.

From teases so far they discuss the variety of themes and boundary pushing they’ve taken over the years, bringing the show full circle with all character arcs wrapped up in time for final credits of Season 5, and about the shows continuity and where it all fits with the original series.

They’ll also discuss opportunities the shows given such as what led to James Kirk being estranged from Carol and David Martcus, as well as why theres no dedicated anniversary special this year.

The SFX August 2026 edition is available to order or download now.

Continuing Mission: SNW Episode Discussion

As always the fleet is under it’s typical spoiler alert policy as SNW Season 4 begins this week! Social media channels will post previews, but the beauty of streaming is that everyone can watch when they’re able and some might even choose to wait for the physical copies or to wait until they can binge like the glory days of Netflix!

Spoilers within Q2 are held to our Continuing Mission Facebook Group as well as the (still a bit experimental!) episode discussion forum on our Community Discord.

For anone unfamilar with how this works – we’re more than aware that group activity can filter it’s way through Facebook and just throw spoilers at you when all you logged in for was to complain about your bin not being collected. So… each episode has a summary and image posted the day before launch. For the first 48 hours posts in Continuing Mission are locked with all episode discussion happening in each Episode thread to help avoid spoilers.

Discord will have a thread per episode under the Episodic section. Club 47 (which is typically only used for support needs) will also have a general season discussion just on the off chance anyone wants to share their views without social media.

As our saviours said, “Be excellent to each other!” and lets make sure we all enjoy any surprises!

Behind the Viewscreen: Jerry Goldsmith

Across a long career writing music for some of Hollywoods most celebrated films, Jerry Goldsmith's mark can be heard in a huge range of genre's from The Omen, to LA Confidential, from Patton to Planet of the Apes. But even when it comes to his science fiction scores including Alien and Total Recall, none have left as iconic a mark as his contributions to Star Trek. During the reinvention of Star Trek for cinema, director Robert Wise knew the challenge. Turn a small sci fi show into a cinematic epic. The success of that has often came up for debate, but no matter the opinion on the Motion Picture, the one celebrated element was the music Goldsmith delivered and the new template he build for the sound of Star Trek. Blending classic orchestra with electronic synthesizers and complex rhythmic patterns, […]

Inside Trek/Outside Trek: Colm Meaney

To the entire Star Trek Universe, Colm Meaney will forever be remembered as The Chief. Making his first appearance in The Next Generations pilot as a background character, Meaney soon found himself in the rotating guest cast for the Next Generation as the character O'Brien was fleshed out and used to bridge the next spin off when he became part of the core cast of Deep Space Nine.   Becoming a favourite as the mild mannered transporter chief, O'Brien solidified his place in Star Trek history in Deep Space Nine thanks to Meaney bringing a grounded, working-class style into the collection of officers and diplomats around him, kicking and cursing at broken down equipment in DS9's pilot episode and continuing to bring the most human character as a father, husband, mentor and overworked fixer of all things. Beyond Star Trek, […]

Starfleet Academy to end with with Season 2

Announced first by Variety, it's been announced that Starfleet Academy will end with Season 2. Having just launches in January with the first season finale receiving positive reactions, and it's second season now in post-production following the completion of filming, the announcement comes at an unsurprising time with Paramount undergoing new ownership under Skydance and more business shenanigans with further consolidation in the works with plans to absorb Warner Brothers into the mix. Set in the 32nd century and using Discovery's season 3 'Burn' storyline as a reset point, Starfleet Academy was focused on new original characters who had signed up to be the new stewards of Starfleet's future to rebuild the strength and vision of the Federation. Opening strong, Academy improved throughout it's first season and used it's setting to help strengthen the hopeful vision of the future and […]

New Cast Welcomes Aboard for Season 5 of Strange New Worlds

As the media hype is starting to ramp up for Academy's debut, Strange New Worlds is adding the finishing touches and along with cast such as Anson Mount saying goodbye to their Enterprise, we have some new names announced to have joined for the final season. Acting as a prequel to the original series, Strange New Worlds has helped to expand legacy characters having brought over Ethan Peck's younger and less refined version of Spock, the first career steps of Nyota Uhura, a completely revamped Christine Chapel and smaller parts – such as Dr M'BEnga, Samuel Kirk and T'Pring among others – being revived for the new era. Since then we've also spent some time with a young Jim Kirk, even seeing his first time in command last season, and Scotty's joined the lower decks of Engineering. As the show […]

Across The Universe This November!

As the year comes to an end, the new cycles are spinning up as Star Trek looks ahead towards new frontiers... UNDER CONSTRUCTION.... AGAIN... It's safe to say the biggest news of December had all eyes back on the film side of the Star Trek franchise again as Paramount seems to have found a new plan to revive Trek on the big screen. Which, sure, comes with a lot of scepticism. We've already had the Tarantino plan, the Kelvin revival announcement, the Hawley film that went into pre production before another announcement and probably more that we've forgotten about. But this one comes from the all new Paramount under Skydance, so lets be cautiously hopeful! According to Deadline the new pitch is coming from Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley who will write and direct a completely new take on […]

All You Need Is Love; New Life and New Civilisations. Strange New Worlds S3E9 Review

Following from Through the Lens of Time, Dr Korby is following the trail of the Vezda all the way to Skygowan; a world that worships the evil aliens found buried in a hidden temple. But the Vezda Scotty captured in the transporter buffer after possessing Ensign Gamble survived, escaped and is now fully reconstructed leading the planet and about to unleash hell throughout the galaxy. And of course, it's up to the Enterprise to find out how, why and chase down the demon to save the day. Writers:Dana Horgan & Davy Perez Director:Marja Vrvilo   There's something quite nice about the idea of this episode. Strange New Worlds has leaned on retelling the 23rd century era for a lot of it's main hooks, whether that be revisiting the Gorn, Vulcan romance or going to the length of an alternate history […]
