USS TESLA Tesla are back in action this weekend as Fan Frontiers is back in Glasgow for another weekend event! Having attended the event since it's inception as Acme Comic Con, Captain Fraz and the crew have become a regular force showcasing a vast array of Trek memorabilia, prop replica's and the occasional skant in the fan zone! This year's event is host to famed Scottish actor Robert Carlisle who returns to Glasgow for a rare meet and greet. Academy Class of 2402: Gamma Season Graduates
Since the return to active service for Starfleet Academy and it being in new hands during it's rebuild, we're pleased to announce the first class under the new term. As you may be aware, new members to SFC are inducted on a "Cadet Term" to find out more about us, establish their preferred level of involvement and get to know the fleet. Tour The Galaxy with the USS Tesla!
Every quarter we'll be putting a division of Quadrant 2 under the spotlight as we Tour The Galaxy with the best and brightest of the fleet. And to start off on a high, we thought we'd begin with one of our fastest developing groups in the past decade; the USS Tesla! The first unit to launch following our mass fleet reorganisation a decade ago, the USS Tesla was first proposed as an idea in passing conversation and soon blossomed into one of the leading groups in both Q2 and in Scotland. Beta Quarter Plans and Progress..
Since the 50th anniversary of SFC as a whole, we've been on a mission to revitalise and update several elements of Quadrant 2, working on improving services and experience fleet wide for all members. Following some background changes and a lot of work in the Alpha Quarter behind the scenes, we're moving into the next phase with some more visibility in whats coming next! Upcoming Away Missions in Glasgow & Edinburgh for the Tesla!
As we enter 2025 (or... 2402...?) there's no rest for the crew of the Tesla as the team are already back in action making a return to two of the biggest events in Scotland! One of the most active and welcoming crew, the year is already off to a flying start with more to come through the year! The first events of the year include.... Admin Office Closed For Annual Leave
Attention all hands - and potential hands! The Admin office for SFCQ2 will be closed temporarily between the 7th-18th November due to an impromptu Admirals holiday! Following the major site upgrade recently, Admin will be taking a short break from regular duties to attend to urgent personal matters. From mid-day January 6th the Admin office will be wrapping up ahead of departure on the 7th. As all incoming membership applications are handled director by the Director of Fleet Administration, we will be accepting applications but please be aware that processing will be paused until return on the weekend of January 18th. At present this is an estimate date and may be extended. For current active members, there'll be no change in operations and no effect on any individual Fleet or Unit Operations. New Year, New Site!
After months of planning and a few mentions here and there, we're as surprised as anyone that after planning a newly refreshed site for 2025, we made it in time without anything going wrong! Reviewing 2024 we've been plotting, planning and organising in the background ahead of a huge push for 2025 to revive some administrative energy and while a new site may seem like it's last on (very long) a list of priories, a new look to match the energy we wanted to go into 2025 with was a big task to get the ball running. On the front end, we've kept things roughly the same with only a few minor tweaks. Posts will still be split between two main sections. New Appointments to Fleet Support; Internal Relations & EDI Officers Selection
As part of some tweaks to fleet structure heading into 2025, our first two new Fleet Support positions have been filled just after celebrating SFC's 50th anniversary. The expansion of Fleet Support allows for more ideas and voices to enter the general operations of Quadrant 2 whilst opening more opportunities for advancement and contributing to the fleet overall.
