It came as a bit of a surprise, but it’s here! As part of an event for advertisers in New York, CBS unleashed a short teaser as their big boss Les Moonves debuted what looks to be the new logo for the the TV branch of Star Trek.
It’s not much, but it’s enough to keep us excited! Details from the new show are yet to be finalised under showrunner Bryan Fuller and executive producer Alex Kurtzman. The still to be titled show will make it’s premiere on CBS Television in January 2017 in the US with the rest of the series available weekly on CBS All Access.
Details on international distribution is still to be announced.

Last week Starfleet Academy debuted and something odd happened. If you're a regular to any Trek news or discussion site, you noticed a spike. Even our usually sleepy Facebook profile went from a handful of likes to over 2,000, am good chunk of which got deleted. It wasn't a normal spike, certainly not normal for a debut show, not normal to be everywhere and – to be frank – not normal in terms of comments. It was a mix of disturbing and sad. Disturbing for the high amount of bigoted and sexist memes and commentary that seemed to mock murdered US citizens. As the media hype is starting to ramp up for Academy's debut, Strange New Worlds is adding the finishing touches and along with cast such as Anson Mount saying goodbye to their Enterprise, we have some new names announced to have joined for the final season. As the year comes to an end, the new cycles are spinning up as Star Trek looks ahead towards new frontiers... UNDER CONSTRUCTION.... AGAIN... It's safe to say the biggest news of December had all eyes back on the film side of the Star Trek franchise again as Paramount seems to have found a new plan to revive Trek on the big screen. Which, sure, comes with a lot of scepticism.
